PROJECTS: I’M PROUD OF GOV. LAWAL’S ACHIEVEMENTS, SAYS FORMER PRESIDENT OBASANJO

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has praised Gov. Lawal for his outstanding achievements, emphasizing the positive impact of his leadership in Zamfara State.

On Tuesday, the former president commissioned the Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital and two major roads in Gusau, the capital of Zamfara State.

A statement by the spokesperson for Zamfara Governor, Sulaiman Bala Idris, revealed that the state has, for the first time, obtained a CT scan and an MRI machine for the renovated Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital.

At the commissioning of the specialist hospital, former President Olusegun Obasanjo urged Governor Lawal to continue on his rescue mission until Zamfara is one of the leading states in Nigeria.

The former president said: “I am in Zamfara State today to see the new, improved, and improving Zamfara under your leadership.

“Here we are. Two things surprised me: the commissioner of health mentioned that you have had a CT scan and an MRI. I know some teaching hospitals don’t have CT scans and MRIs, and some have machines, but they are not operational. Here you have it; it is working and providing service.”

“I have great pleasure to be here, to commission this remodelled and re-equipped hospital for the well-being and welfare of everybody that will come here.”

Commissioning of the Zannah Road to Abarma road, former President Obasanjo said that Governor Lawal is making Zamfara a modern state. “Based on my observations and what I have heard, we are partners in progress. I urge you to continue enhancing Zamfara State throughout your government’s eight-year tenure.”

In his address, Governor Lawal thanked Former President Obasanjo for honoring the invitation to commission the key projects in the state.

“Your Excellency, on behalf of all the citizens of Zamfara State, thank you for honoring our invitation and welcome to your second home, Zamfara State. A State that is dear to your heart because our primary vocation here is Agriculture, something you are very passionate about.”

“The Ahmad Sani Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital has undergone both expansion and renewal. New facilities have been constructed. Doctors now have residential quarters, including two and three bedrooms semi-detached units, and a befitting residence for the Chief Medical Director.

“A serene and quiet patient relaxation arena has also been introduced alongside the redesign and beautification of the hospital landscape. We also established internal road networks that support mobility, order, and aesthetics.”

“The new centers constructed are new Obstetrics and Gynecology (O&G), new Radiology Complex, new Laboratory Complex, and Patient Relaxation Arena.”

“Equally important is the extensive renovation and modernization of 14 key departments, all of which have been revitalized and upgraded to contemporary standards.”

“We have matched these infrastructural improvements with a robust supply of cutting-edge medical equipment across all critical Departments. These include advanced diagnostic and therapeutic tools for radiology, dialysis, surgery, ophthalmology, ENT, physiotherapy, endoscopy, echocardiography, dentistry, and general clinical care.”

“The hospital has also been furnished with new hospital beds, electronic systems, general furniture, and waste management infrastructure to ensure an environment that meets global hygiene standards, safety, and comfort.”

The Governor emphasized that the hospital is well-equipped to function as a true referral center for complex medical cases, a credible training facility for healthcare personnel, and a hub for medical research and innovation.

Other projects commissioned are the Zannah road to Abarma road and Tsalha Bungudu road to Kwanar Birnin Ruwa road, all in Gusau, the state capital.

SEN. ORJI KALU COMMISSIONS PROJECTS IN ZAMFARA, LAUDS GOV. LAWAL’S GIANT STRIDES

PRESS STATEMENT

SEN. ORJI KALU COMMISSIONS PROJECTS IN ZAMFARA, LAUDS GOV. LAWAL’S GIANT STRIDES

Senator Orji Uzo Kalu, former Governor of Abia State, has applauded Governor Dauda Lawal’s administration for transforming Zamfara State.

On Monday, Senator Kalu commissioned the newly reconstructed Zamfara State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development building and the newly renovated Zamfara State College of Arts and Sciences (ZACAS) structures.

According to a statement by Sulaiman Bala Idris, spokesperson for the Zamfara State Governor, the Ministry had been operating from a single-level bungalow that was not only inadequate in size but also unfit for the vital responsibilities and services it is expected to provide.

The statement added that through visionary planning and responsible execution, Governor Lawal has transformed that modest bungalow into a modern, multi-functional, multi-storey building.

While commissioning the Ministry of Women Affairs building, Governor Lawal emphasized that the impressive structure reflects the vital role the Ministry plays in advancing his administration’s rescue and development agenda.

“It is with deep gratitude to Almighty Allah, and a strong sense of duty and purpose, that I stand before you today for the commissioning of this newly constructed and furnished building for the Zamfara State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, and the laying of the foundation stone for the new Women’s Center on these premises.”

“It also gives me great honor to formally welcome our Special Guest of Honor, my Friend and a Friend of Zamfara State, my brother, Distinguished Senator of the Federal Republic, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu.

“This event we are here for today is not just about unveiling a physical structure and starting off another; it is about reaffirming our administration’s sustained commitment to institutional renewal, social development, and inclusive governance.”

“It is about demonstrating once more that the dignity and welfare of our women, children, the physically challenged, and the vulnerable are central to our governance philosophy.”

While commissioning the newly renovated and upgraded facilities at the Zamfara State College of Arts and Sciences (ZACAS), Gusau, Governor Lawal restated that the event marks a significant milestone in his government’s collective journey to reposition education as the cornerstone of development and prosperity in Zamfara State.

“The structures we commission reflect a carefully planned and well-executed intervention to transform ZACAS into a more functional, competitive, and student-friendly institution. Following all due processes of contract award, the renovation project was awarded to Bankanu & Partners Limited, whose professionalism and adherence to quality standards are evident in the results before us.”

“In the first and second phases of the project, we undertook the complete renovation of critical academic facilities that had long fallen into disrepair and were no longer conducive to effective teaching and learning. Notably, the former administrative block has been redesigned and converted into three classrooms, each with a seating capacity of 150, breathing new life into the academic experience for both students and faculty.”

“The College’s temporary library has also been thoroughly renovated, providing a more conducive and resourceful space for academic research. One of the most significant assets of this institution, the 200-seat capacity Sardauna Hall, has equally undergone complete renovation and modernization.”

“The Mass Communication Studio and Theatre, and the computer-based Test (CBT) Centre have all been completely renovated and fully equipped. The Yusuf Anka Auditorium has been transformed to accommodate both academic and social functions. Meanwhile, the three core science laboratories — Biology, Chemistry, and Physics — have been fully renovated and modernized to support high-quality science education and experimentation.

Earlier, Senator Kalu praised Governor Dauda Lawal’s efforts, particularly the quality of work at the Zamfara State Ministry of Women Affairs and the Zamfara State College of Arts and Sciences.

“Equally important is the renovation of student accommodation, which is crucial to the welfare and retention of students. One female hostel and three male hostels have been completely been renovated to improve living conditions and uphold the dignity of students.”

He stated that what he observed in Zamfara represents a transformation, with a governor who enjoys the complete support of his people.

PRESS STATEMENT

EID AL-ADHA: GOVERNOR LAWAL URGES ZAMFARA MUSLIMS TO REFLECT ON THE VALUES OF SACRIFICE AND OBEDIENCE.

Governor Dauda Lawal has congratulated the Muslim community in Zamfara and Nigeria on the occasion of this year’s Eid al-Adha celebration.

Muslim faithful across the world celebrate the occasion of Eid al-Adha, also known as the ‘Festival of Sacrifice,’ today, Friday, 6th June 2025.

A statement by the spokesperson of the Zamfara Governor, Sulaiman Bala Idris, noted that Eid al-Adha is one of the most significant religious celebrations in the Islamic calendar.

The statement read in parts, “The Zamfara State Government extends its congratulations to the Muslim Ummah on the special occasion of Eid Al-Adha.

“Eid Al-Adha offers Muslims a chance to honor Prophet Ibrahim’s (AS) readiness to sacrifice his son in obedience to God’s command.

“It reminds us of the significance of faith, selflessness, and our shared commitment to community and humanity. We should use this period to reflect on the values of sacrifice and obedience to Almighty Allah.

“We must all come together as a united force against all forms of social vices, deviant behaviours, and crimes affecting our societies.

“It is our collective responsibility to work towards ensuring the safety of our communities, state, and Nigeria because we seek in others what we lack in ourselves.

“May Allah accept our sacrifices as an act of Ibadah. May Allah bless Zamfara State and Nigeria.”
