GOVERNOR LAWAL DISTRIBUTES 72,000 FREE BAGS OF FERTILISER, CHEMICALS, AND EQUIPMENT TO ZAMFARA FARMERS

Governor Dauda Lawal has distributed more than 120 trucks of fertilisers and essential farm inputs to Zamfara farmers.

The Zamfara 2026 wet-season fertiliser programme was launched on Friday at the Trade Fair Complex in Gusau, the state capital.

According to a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, the Zamfara State Government distributed 72,000 bags of fertiliser, 200,000 litres of herbicides, and 100 crop residue crushers.

Additional agricultural assets include 100 grass choppers, 100 feed milling machines, improved pasture seeds, 20 motorcycles, and 20 mobile phones designated for agricultural extension agents.

In his remarks, Governor Lawal said Zamfara State occupies a strategic position as one of Nigeria’s agricultural strongholds.

He said, “Today’s event marks another significant milestone in our commitment to revitalising agriculture, strengthening food security, creating sustainable livelihoods, supporting our farmers, and repositioning Zamfara State as a major contributor to Nigeria’s agricultural economy.

“Zamfara State has vast, fertile land and hardworking people whose history, culture, and economy are rooted in agriculture. Farming is the main livelihood and a key to inclusive growth and sustainable development, helping to fight poverty, banditry, and crime.

“Our communities have long been known for agriculture, livestock, and trade that sustain livelihoods and regional food supply. Agriculture is not just an economic activity; it’s part of our identity, heritage, resilience, and the foundation for prosperity that future generations will continue to build upon.

“Our goal is to restore and expand Zamfara’s farming legacy by shifting from subsistence to productive, tech-driven, market-oriented agriculture.

“We aim to unlock farmers’ potential through improved inputs, mechanisation, irrigation, extension services, climate-smart methods, and market linkages. This will make Zamfara a leading Nigerian agricultural hub.

“As peace returns, more communities are reopening, more farmlands are under cultivation, and more families are rebuilding their livelihoods. Our responsibility as a government is to sustain this progress by providing the support, infrastructure, and environment our farmers need to succeed.”

The governor emphasised that the state government’s commitment is shown not only by words but through deliberate action.

“We have strengthened collaboration with the Federal Government, development partners, and international organisations while fulfilling our obligations, including payment of counterpart funds, to ensure full benefits from critical agricultural interventions.

“Through programmes such as FADAMA III, NG-CARES, SPIN, ZACADEP, SAPZ, IFAD-supported initiatives, and other strategic partnerships, thousands of our farmers have benefited from improved seeds, fertilisers, agrochemicals, irrigation facilities, farming equipment, and modern agricultural knowledge.

“These interventions improve productivity, expand cultivation, and boost household incomes, laying a foundation for a modern, competitive, climate-resilient sector. We promote mechanisation, private investment, and innovation to make agriculture more productive and attractive, especially for youth. This is evident in the Zamfara State Agriculture hub in Kwatarkwashi, Bungudu LGA.”

The distribution of the fertilisers and agricultural assets will cover all 147 political wards across Zamfara State’s 14 Local Government Areas. Each ward will receive 340 bags of fertiliser, while each Local Government Area will receive 8,000 litres of herbicides.

FG COMMISSIONS AUTOMOTIVE TRAINING CENTRE IN GUSAU, TRAINS 100 YOUTHS IN MECHATRONICS

The National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) trained 100 youths in mechatronics to repair petrol and CNG powered tricycles and motorcycles in Zamfara State.

The automotive centre in Gusau was commissioned on Thursday by the Honourable Minister of State for Industry, Senator John Owan Enoh.

A statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, disclosed that the centre and training were coordinated through a collaboration between the NADCC and the Zamfara State office of the Made in Nigeria Special Project.

The statement noted that the Automotive Training Centres (ATCs) were established in all six geo-political zones, providing equal access to training and technical services.

In his remarks at the event, Governor Lawal said that advances in mechatronics, electric mobility, alternative fuel technologies, smart diagnostics, and digital systems are redefining transportation worldwide.

He said, “I warmly welcome the Hon. Minister of State for Industry, Senator John Owan Enoh; the Chairman of the NADDC Governing Board, Chief Emma Eneukwu; the Director-General and CEO of NADDC, Otunba Oluwemimo Joseph Osanipin, along with our development partners and private sector representatives.

“I wish to express my profound appreciation to the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC). Through its visionary leadership and commitment to skills development, NADDC has continued to position Nigeria to become one of the world’s leading automotive manufacturing nations.

“I also commend (PADSON Group) Nigeria Limited, the Made-in-Nigeria Project Office, the program facilitators, and all stakeholders whose dedication and collaboration have made this project a reality.”

“As a government, we recognise that the future belongs to societies that invest in knowledge, innovation, and human capital development. It is therefore imperative that our youths acquire industry-relevant competencies that enable them to compete favourably in the rapidly evolving global economy.

“After assuming office in 2023, I visited NADDC in Abuja within a month to seek collaboration in equipping youths with practical automotive skills. I believe empowering youth with employable skills is vital to fight poverty, unemployment, and insecurity. I’m pleased that this vision has now materialised.

“Today marks a milestone in our commitment to youth empowerment, skills, technology, and economic growth in Zamfara State, opening doors to opportunities, innovation, self-reliance, and prosperity for our young people.”

The governor emphasised that establishing the Centre in Zamfara aligns with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which focuses on youth development, industrialisation, and cleaner energy through the Presidential CNG Initiative.

Earlier, the Minister of State for Industry, Sen. John Owan, said the Federal Government has intensified its engagements with international investors and leading automotive manufacturers to establish automotive industrial hubs and expand local production capabilities across Nigeria.

GOV. LAWAL SUPPORTS LOCAL BUSINESSES WITH OVER N1 BILLION, SAYS ZAMFARA ON A NEW TRAJECTORY

Governor Dauda Lawal has assured local entrepreneurs that Zamfara State is on a new path and is making significant strides, transforming from a state once dominated by challenges.

The governor inaugurated the distribution of grants under the SABER (SERBS) programme on Thursday at the JB Yakubu Secretariat, Gusau.

A statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, revealed that the State Action on Business Enabling Reforms (SABER) Program represents a landmark in the state’s economic renewal.

The statement added that SABER is a five-year, performance-based, multi-sectoral initiative supported by the World Bank, carefully designed to dismantle barriers, stimulate private enterprise, and generate sustainable jobs for the people of Zamfara.

N150,000 will be distributed to 2,000 beneficiaries across the state to support nano and micro businesses. Additionally, 1,000 individuals in small and medium-sized businesses will receive N500,000 each. Furthermore, 60 people from medium—and large-scale businesses will benefit from a grant of N5 million each.

In his remarks, Governor Lawal noted that SABER is no ordinary intervention, affirming that the total amount allocated for the disbursement component of the program is approximately N1.1 billion, with funding support ranging from $20 million USD to $52 million USD between 2022 and 2026.

“We are gathered today to launch the program with the commencement of the disbursement of money to support various categories of businessmen and women throughout the state.

“There are three main categories of disbursements to be made. We have carefully reviewed relevant government institutions and the private sector, represented by the Chamber of Commerce leadership, to select beneficiaries in each support category.

Governor Lawal further stressed that the SABER program, coordinated by the Ministry of Budget and Planning, is implemented by various MDAs, including the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, ZAGIS, and others like Finance, Agriculture, and Justice. It also involves the Internal Revenue Service, Housing Corporation, and ZITDA, working in conjunction with the Ease of Doing Business Committee.

Earlier, the CEO/Director General of Nigeria’s Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (SMEDAN), Charles Odii, commended Governor Dauda Lawal for his numerous efforts to support local businesses in Zamfara State.

“I am glad that His Excellency the governor is not paying lip service to developing small businesses in Nigeria. I was sitting there, hearing that 2,000 businesses will get N150,000. I think it is important that if a small business owner gets N150,000, he will employ one person.”

GIRL-CHILD EDUCATION: GOV. LAWAL EMPOWERS 8,225 SECONDARY SCHOOL GIRLS IN ZAMFARA

Governor Dauda Lawal has distributed the conditional cash transfers to 8,225 adolescent girls in all 14 local government areas of Zamfara State.

On Wednesday, the governor officially commenced the disbursement of funds for the ACRESAL and Agile Projects at Garba Nadama Hall, J.B. Yakubu State Secretariat in Gusau.

A statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, disclosed that the 8,225 secondary school girls were selected from the poorest and most vulnerable households.

The statement added that each adolescent girl will receive N40,000 to support their continued enrolment and transition through school.

“Additional tranches of Ten Thousand Naira each for the Second and Third School terms will bring the total support to N60,000 per session through the parents or caregivers. A total Sum of Three Hundred and Twenty-Two Million Naira is approved for this First Batch. Currently, arrangements for the second Batch of beneficiaries are in progress.

At the ceremony, Governor Lawal highlighted that the event symbolically provides financial support to beneficiaries of the ACReSAL and AGILE projects, which align with his administration’s focus on education, inclusive growth, social protection, and environmental resilience.

He said: “Under the ACReSAL project, we disburse the Community Revolving Fund to 500 beneficiaries in Gusau, Bungudu, and Kaura Namoda. The fund aims to support grassroots environmental and economic initiatives, reflecting our commitment to combating land degradation, promoting sustainable agriculture, and enhancing livelihoods in the face of climate challenges.

“Our communities face hardships like women building small businesses, youths seeking opportunities, and rural households accessing basic services. The Community Revolving Fund offers sustainable funding to support development, marking a shift towards resilience and accountability. I urge beneficiaries to use resources wisely and transparently, ensuring trust results in visible, measurable outcomes.

“The disbursement will keep circulating within communities, benefiting more people over time. Through proper use and repayment, this initiative will exemplify financial inclusion, local resilience, and sustainability accountability.”

The governor further stated that education remains a top priority of his administration.

“We are committed to tackling and overcoming all barriers, whether economic, infrastructural, or social, that prevent our daughters from accessing and completing their education. For when you educate a girl, you educate a village, because these educated girls grow into empowered women, who uplift their families, strengthen communities, and drive progress in our state.

“I commend all the implementing teams under the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources and the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology, as well as our technical partners, for their dedication and collaboration in executing these vital programmes.

“Let me reassure the good people of Zamfara State that this administration will continue to pursue policies and programmes that deliver meaningful impact, especially at the grassroots. We remain committed to accountability, transparency, and service to our people.

Governor Dauda Lawal has commended the member representing the Gusau/Tsafe federal constituency, Hon. Kabiru Amadu ‘Mai Palace,’ for delivering the dividends of democracy to his constituents.

On Sunday, about 100 cars and tractors provided by Hon. Mai Palace were distributed at an event held at the government house in Gusau.

A statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, disclosed that the vehicles were distributed in grand style to party officials, elders, influencers, and other selected individuals of the Gusau/Tsafe constituency.

The statement added that Hon. Kabiru Amadu had distributed over 100 motorcycles to selected people last month.

Governor Lawal praises Hon. Kabiru Amadu’s efforts and urged other politicians and stakeholders to focus on the well-being of their communities, particularly on initiatives that enhance their quality of life.

The governor said, “I am deeply impressed by the array of initiatives that Hon. Kabiru Amadu is implementing for the benefit of his constituents. This is commendable and deserves encouragement.

“While the state government works on projects to construct and renovate schools, hospitals, and roads, we need a welfare initiative to bolster our efforts. This is exactly what Hon. Mai Palace is doing.”

“In our two years in office, we have accomplished much, particularly in security, education, health, workers’ welfare, and urban renewal, among other areas.”

Governor Dauda Lawal has flagged off the distribution of debit cards for the beneficiaries of the World Bank-financed Cash Transfer Scheme.

The official launch ceremony was held on Monday at the Tsafe local government secretariat.

A statement by the spokesperson of the Zamfara Governor, Sulaiman Bala Idris, disclosed that the initiative is designed to provide each beneficiary with N75,000.00 in financial support.

In his remarks, Governor Lawal reiterated that the ceremony represents a significant moment in his commitment to empowering the most vulnerable people of Zamfara.

“It is therefore with a lot of pleasure that I stand before you as we flag off this all-important programme.

“Distinguished personalities, guests, this initiative is designed to provide financial support of N75,000.00 each to 448,141 beneficiaries.

“As stated by Honourable Commissioner Kainuwa earlier, out of that expected number, 279,534 beneficiaries have met the minimum requirement to receive N75,000 each. The remaining beneficiaries will be processed and benefit as soon as they are cleared in sha Allah.

“To the beneficiaries of this programme, I would like to remind and caution you not to use this intervention only for the usual domestic needs. This empowerment aims to enable you to invest in your future to support yourselves and your families and contribute to the growth of our local and national economy.

“I urge you all to use this opportunity wisely, invest in entrepreneurship, and become self-reliant.”

The governor thanked the Federal Government, partners, and stakeholders, especially the National Cash Transfer Office, for their dedication and significant contributions to the program.

“Let me take this opportunity to assure you all that our administration will continue to partner with any individual or organization for the betterment and development of our dear state.

“With these few, it is my honor to flag off hereby the distribution and activation of the debit cards to facilitate the Conditional Cash Transfer payments to the deserving beneficiaries.”

ZAMFARA GOVERNMENT PARTNERS WITH ORACLE TO BOOST DIGITAL SKILLS DEVELOPMENT IN LONDON

The Zamfara State Government has signed an Agreement with Oracle to invest in youth development, workforce capacity building, and the digital economy under Oracle University’s Skills Development Initiative (SDI).

The Agreement was signed on Tuesday April 29, 2025 at Oracle’s Offices in London, United Kingdom.

A statement by the spokesperson of the Zamfara Governor, Sulaiman Bala Idris, revealed that this work will foster collaboration between the Zamfara Information and Technology Development Agency (ZITDA) and Oracle.

The Zamfara State delegation, led by Governor Dauda Lawal, includes the Secretary to the State Government, two Special Advisers, and the Executive Secretary of ZITDA were present for the event, along with Siobhan Wilson, Oracle UK Country Leader and Senior Vice President, EMEA.

The statement read in parts: “Zamfara State Government has signed a strategic agreement with Oracle to drive digital skills development across the state. Facilitated through the Zamfara Information Technology Development Agency (ZITDA), the collaboration will use the expertise and learning services of both Oracle Academy and Oracle University in their digital transformation efforts.

“The collaboration signifies a commitment to education and a strategic investment in the future of Zamfara’s youth, workforce, and digital economy.
“Oracle Academy, Oracle’s global philanthropic educational program, offers a robust portfolio of technology education teaching and learning resources, including curriculum and software access, to educators and students worldwide.

“With the support of the Zamfara Information Technology Development Agency (ZITDA), these resources will be made available to validated higher education institutions across Zamfara.”

“ZITDA will help lead efforts to integrate Oracle Academy offerings into Zamfara’s higher education curriculum, equipping educators with the tools and resources they need to guide students in learning hands-on tech skills and toward Oracle professional certifications and foster a new generation of tech-savvy leaders.

“In addition, Oracle University’s Skills Development Initiative (SDI), a global program that provides access to world-class learning and certification programs at no cost to eligible learners, will further expand opportunities for learners in Zamfara.

“Through a co-branded Learning Portal in collaboration with ZITDA, Oracle University plans to provide free access to digital learning paths and foundational certifications for eligible participants across Zamfara. This includes curated learning journeys offering over 200 hours of professional-level training in high-demand areas such as Cloud, AI, Data Science and APEX development.”
