GOV. LAWAL CHARGES NEWLY APPOINTED ZAMFARA JUDGES ON QUICK DISPENSATION OF JUSTICE

Governor Dauda Lawal has charged judges to prioritize the quick dispensation of justice to the people.

On Wednesday, the governor presided over the swearing in of newly appointed high court judges and Shari’ah Court of Appeal kadis at the grand chamber, Government House, Gusau.

A statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, revealed that the state Chief Judge administered the oath of office and allegiance to three high court judges and three court of appeal judges.

The statement added that the appointed high court judges are Garba Sirajo, Esq., Bashir Rabi, Esq., and Abdullahi Nasir, Esq., while the appointed Kadis are Ibrahim Jibril, Muhammad Sanusi Magami, and Sha’aban Mansir.

In his remark at the ceremony, Governor Lawal noted that the judges were appointed after due consideration and approval of the National Judicial Council.

“Let me first congratulate you on your well-deserved appointments. Your appointments reflect the confidence that the judicial system has reposed in you. Therefore, I call on you to justify this confidence by demonstrating high professionalism, honesty, integrity, and impartiality in your duties.

“I wish to recognise the efforts and commitment of the Honorable Chief Judge and Chairman, Zamfara State Judicial Service Commission, Hon. Justice Kulu Aliyu OFR, and indeed her entire team, for a job well done, as all the nominees forwarded to the National Judicial Council were accepted and appointed.

“It is a fact that a significant building block of a just, equitable, and fair society is the dispassionate, unbiased, and timely dispensation of justice. This statement rings most especially true for our administration, as we strive to shift the paradigm, rescue Zamfara state, and rebuild our community with every citizen playing a role and being held accountable.

“This is a crucial time for the State Judiciary to support the current administration’s efforts to enhance citizens’ well-being. Ongoing collaboration between the Executive and the Judiciary is essential to achieving our goals. I assure you of my continued support, and my administration will provide the necessary benefits, allowances, and a suitable working environment to help you perform at your best.”

Governor Lawal further emphasized that the judges’ appointment consolidates their valued experience in service for the benefit of society.

“It’s not a heavy responsibility, but with Allah’s help, you will do the right thing. Prioritize swift justice to rebuild society and restore trust in governance. The administration has invested in security, infrastructure, health, education, and human capital over the past two years despite regional security challenges.

“We increased the minimum wage from N7,000 to N70,000, provided Ramadan and Sallah bonuses, introduced a 13th-month productivity allowance, and cleared 13 years of unpaid gratuities from 2011 to 2023. We are dedicated to sustainable development in Zamfara State.”

GOV. LAWAL COMMITS TO JUDICIAL INDEPENDENCE AND EXPEDITED JUSTICE DELIVERY IN ZAMFARA STATE

Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has expressed that his administration is dedicated to prioritizing initiatives that improve timely justice delivery and protect the judiciary’s independence.

The governor said this on Monday at the opening ceremony of a capacity-building workshop for magistrates, registrars, and court clerks at the Zamfara State High Court of Justice, which was held at the High Court complex in Gusau.

According to a statement by the governor’s spokesman, Sulaiman Bala Idris, the conference provides a platform for judicial officers and stakeholders to assess the judiciary’s performance, identify challenges, and set new goals.

In his opening remark, Governor Lawal acknowledged the commitment and exemplary leadership of the State’s Chief Judge, Justice Kulu Aliyu, OFR, FNJI, and the entire Judicial branch for their demonstrated commitment to discharge their responsibilities.

He said: “The consistent commitment of Her Lordship to the dispensation of justice inspires confidence and increases trust in the Judiciary as a critical institution in a constitutional democracy. This administration stays fully committed to supporting the judiciary in all its endeavors.

“My government will continue to prioritize initiatives that enhance justice delivery on time and safeguard the independence of this noble arm of government.”

Governor Lawal noted that the workshop’s importance can not be overemphasized. “It will improve the skills and enrich the participants’ knowledge so that they are better prepared to serve and meet public expectations. Our people look up to you as the last hope for the common man in dispensing justice, fairness, and protection of their rights. Judicial officers and staff must be well prepared to meet these expectations, particularly in these challenging times.

“My Lord Chief Judge, Judges of Zamfara State High Court, distinguished participants, it is gratifying to note the proactive measures the Judiciary is taking in preparing and equipping Magistrates, Registrars, and other staff with the requisite training for efficient and effective delivery of justice.

“In this context, it is crucial to emphasize technological necessity advancements of embracing through the automation of the entire judicial system in the state. This has the potential to streamline processes, reduce delays, and enhance transparency, thereby ensuring speedy dispensation of justice. I believe that if we integrate modern tools into judicial operations, we will build a robust system responsive to the needs of our people and modern times.”

The governor also urges the judiciary to stay vigilant against a few individuals whose behavior may undermine the integrity of the noble institution. “Identifying and addressing misconduct within the system is a shared responsibility that demands diligence, steadfastness, integrity, and commitment.”

SUPREME COURT VICTORY: WE MUST JOIN HANDS TO RESCUE ZAMFARA, SAYS GOVERNOR LAWAL

Governor Dauda Lawal has called on the opposition party to collaborate with his administration on its rescue mission. He emphasised that the recent Supreme Court verdict is a victory for the people of Zamfara.

On Friday, the Apex court set aside the decision of the Court of Appeal Abuja, which declared the Zamfara Governorship Election inconclusive.

Delivering the lead decision of the Supreme Court, Emmanuel Agim described the judgement of the lower Court of Appeal as perverse and lacked evidential foundation.

In a statement by his spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, Governor Lawal said that the Apex court verdict reflected the people’s desire for positive development and progress.

According to him, working together is critical to achieving sustainable state development. The success of our collective efforts depends on the active collaboration of all stakeholders. “Let’s prioritise collaboration and work towards a better future for our state.”

He said: “I am thrilled to have received affirmation of my election by the Supreme Court today. This verdict will boost our morale in fulfilling campaign promises.

“Today’s victory is confirmation of the collective decision made by the people of Zamfara State during the governorship election held in March last year. This victory is for all the people of Zamfara State.

“By my campaign manifesto, which serves as a guide for our rescue mission, my administration has taken swift action to liberate Zamfara from the shackles of poor governance.

“I am urging all people of Zamfara, including opposition parties, to unite and work together to rebuild and restore the state.

“My administration is on a mission to rebuild the state, and the Supreme Court’s decision is a victory for the people who trusted me.”

REMAIN THE BEACON OF HOPE FOR THE WEAK, GOV. LAWAL CHARGES NEW ZAMFARA KHADIS OF SHARI’A COURT

Governor Dauda Lawal charged the three new Khadis of the State Shari’a Court of Appeal to be honest and committed while discharging their duties.

The Chief Judge of the State swore in three new Khadis of the Zamfara State Shari’a court on Wednesday at the council chambers, government house, Gusau.

A statement by the spokesperson for the Zamfara governor, Sulaiman Bala Idris, said the Sharia courts play a significant role in the state’s legal system.

According to him, the Shari’a courts in Zamfara were expanded in 1999 to handle criminal and other matters and have since been at the forefront of dispensing justice.

During his speech, Governor Dauda Lawal urged the newly appointed Khadis to maintain the integrity of their office.

“I believe your appointment as kadis of the Sharia Court of Appeal is in recognition of your vast experience, Islamic jurisprudential expertise, and commitment to upholding the tenets of Shari’a.

“You have a role to play in ensuring an equitable dispensation of justice to people. Yours is therefore a great trust. As kadis, you should always remember that you will ultimately account for all your judicial decisions before Almighty Allah on the Day of Judgment.”

Furthermore, Governor Lawal tasked the new Khadis with upholding the people’s trust in the Sharia legal system and ensuring that the courts remain a beacon of hope, especially for the vulnerable.

“In line with the Rescue Mission of my administration, I assure you that we shall remain committed to the implementation of sharia across the state, both in terms of legal adjudication and undertaking projects.

“With your swearing in today, you should bear in mind that you have a great task of maintaining the integrity of our Sharia system. Justice must be done to all manners of people irrespective of their political, economic, and social status.”
