Biography of His Excellency

Early Life and Education

Dauda Lawal Dare was born on the 2nd of September 1965 in Zamfara State.  He completed his Primary and Secondary where he grew up with his parent and later attended Ahmadu Bello University, where he obtained B.Sc in Political Science. He also holds M.Sc in Political Science/international relations from the same university. He also went to Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, where he obtained his Ph.D. in business administration.

After Dauda Lawal Dare completed his Ph.D program, he went further to develop himself by taking courses at prestigious universities, including the Harvard Business School, Oxford University Business School, London School of Economics and Lagos Business School among others.

His Career

Dauda Lawal Dare served as a political education officer with the Agency for Mass Mobilization for Social and Economic Reliance Nigeria. In 1989, he became an assistant general manager when he joined Westex Nigeria Limited.

Dauda Lawal was appointed an assistant consular officer (immigration) in 1994 and later became chief protocol officer in the Embassy of Nigeria, Washington, D.C, U.S.

In 2003, he joined First Bank of Nigeria Plc as the relationship manager and was at various times senior manager in the Abuja Area office. In 2011, he was promoted to the position of executive vice president, public sector, North of First Bank of Nigeria Plc, after he had served in numerous positions.

In 2012, he became the executive director, public sector, North of First Bank of Nigeria Plc.

Dauda Lawal later joined politics and ran for the seat of the governor of the zamfara state APC primary election held in 2018 but he lost to Idris Shehu Mukhtar.

In the 2023 Zamfara state gubernatorial election, he contested and won the office of the governor of zamfara state under the People Democratic Party.
