Zamfara State Executive Council chaired by Governor Dauda Lawal has deliberated on various critical issues in the state during its inaugural meeting which lasted for several hours at the Council Chamber Government House Gusau, Zamfara State.
Addressing journalists shortly after the meeting, Secretary to Zamfara State Government, Malam Abubakar M. Nakwada said, as part of the resolutions by the council, Two Hundred Thousand (200,000) vulnerable families in zamfara state will benefit with food stuff as one the palliative measures to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal by the Federal Government of Nigeria.
According to him, some categories of civil servants in the state would be considered for a similar gesture in an appropriate arrangement for the palliative programme.
In the same vein, the Executive Council has approved the immediate provision of Fifty (50) Palliative Busses for a start and another TEN (10) 52-seater Macopolo Busses in order to reduce transportation problems for students in the state. Primary school pupils in particular, are to enjoy free transportation under the new palliative arrangement.
In another development, the council renewed its commitment and reviewed its efforts of securing the lives and properties of the people in the state. It further calls on the people in the state to continue to keep faith with the government in this regard and pray for peace in the state as it takes further security measures and strategies details of which cannot be made public.
The secretary to the state Government Abubakar Nakwada also explained that Governor Dauda Lawal used the council meeting to give matching orders to Ministry of Education, Ministry Commerce and Industries and Ministry of Health to use the findings and suggestions from the current Needs Assessment and immediately swing into the rightful action to ensure effective service delivery and maximum success of their Ministries.
Similarly, other commissioners have been tasked to take full charge and responsibilities of their Ministries. They are further advised to cascade same practice and attitude to other levels of workforce in their respective areas of authority.
Contributing to the press briefing, Chief of staff Zamfara state Government House, Hon. Mouktar Lugga added that Governor Dauda Lawal had demonstrated to the State Executive Council, his compassionate desire and commitment to transform Zamfara State while assuring to grant the commissioners appropriate liberty and certain approval limits to enable them carryout the mandate of their Ministries with minimum delay.
